Quinn + Rob | Toronto, ON

We end the wedding post of 2012 with our last muses of the year, Quinn and Rob. We actually edited their photos throughout our trip in Asia (which we promise to blog in the new year!), and we couldn’t wait to deliver their photos to them. I know it sounds weird to say, but it was a really nice home coming for us. It gave us something to be excited about and look forward to upon our return (minus the jet lag), boy were we jet lagged!!

I’ll never forget the beautiful quality of closeness i felt between them and their family and friends. My favourite moment would have to be during the speeches. Everyone gave Such good speeches. You can tell they really spoke from their heart and took the time to eloquently sum up their relationship and love for Quinn and Rob -though many jokes were at Rob’s expense, I have to say, he really took it like a man! It really confirmed what i had been feeling all throughout the day; that they are simply fun and genuinely kind spirited people.

Rosie + JP | Punta Cana, DR

Prior to their engagement, upon discussing their hypothetical wedding, Rosie and JP always knew they wanted it to be a destination down south.  But the question always lingered… how can you make it work knowing not everyone will be able to attend?  So in true Rosie and JP form, they held three separate weddings – officially at church with immediate family honoring JP and his family’s religious beliefs,  through their Cambodian ceremony to pay homage to rosie’s cambodian roots, and finally, in Punta Cana for each other, where they exchanged their own vows.  This 3 part wedding plan put in action by Rosie and JP was their way to ensure the attendance of their nearest and dearest to at least one event, and allow them the opportunity to spend intimate quality time with everyone -something couples almost never get to do.

The wedding day in Punta Cana itself was a whirlwind of sun, laughter, an abundance of love, and happiness.  That is the shortest and best way I can sum it up.  (With clear blue water as a backdrop too.  Not too shabby if you ask me…). Needless to say, Rosie looked sublime and JP could not keep his eyes off his bride.

We’re so privileged to have been allowed to be a part of such glorious moments of pure beauty that was their wedding (all 3 of them).  We feel a strong bond with these two after having spent a beautiful week together.  So strong, in fact, that they have invited us to join them in Asia to which we shamelessly accepted to crash their honeymoon (though I’m sure they wouldn’t call it that).

Looking back on the photos now I’m reminded of the beautiful things I got to witness.  Such sincerity and so much of love.  Ro and J, we love you.  It’s as simple as that. See you on the first pit stop of our adventure together starting with Japan!

Anita + Lincoln | Montreal, QC

Bernie and I have been like on hot coals waiting for this wedding ever since Anita and Lincoln asked us to document it.

Anita and Lincoln wanted to stray as far away as possible from the typical banquet hall (something refreshing and mostly welcome to us) and remove themselves from the clutter that is Beautiful (but let’s face it, it’s been quite difficult to get around nowadays) Montreal. So they opted to have their wedding at the Rivière du Chêne vineyard just outside the city. And let me tell you, Bern and I cannot wait to shoot here again.

The day itself promised rain. Lots of it. And we were prepared. In fact, we were so prepared that we couldn’t quite believe it when it stopped raining 3/4 of the way to the vineyard. and to top it all off, the heavy grey clouds cleared and the warm sun beamed through just in time allowing them to keep their ceremony outdoors. I still can’t believe it -and I was there. But even if it was to pour cats and dogs, it was clear that the joy and atmosphere was something a few rain drops couldn’t ruin.

One thing that struck closest to home for us with this couple is their love for traveling and food. All conversations with them always led back to food and travel -two things we passionately love and simply cannot get enough of, and was an ongoing theme to their whimsical affair of a wedding. Each table was named after places they had visited and coordinated perfectly with where their family and friends were from. Some even came as far as from Hong Kong and even Japan!

We can’t say enough good things about this couple and their beautiful wedding. From the whimsically rustic flowers to the handmade chalkboard seating chart, polaroid guest book, special song tribute, interactive story telling to the deeeeelicious three course meal (with sorbets in between each!) and the late night sushi spread! I could seriously go on and on..

As the night fell outside, inside the vineyard, the dj got people on the dance floor. And that’s where we left Anita and Lincoln, dancing the night away under the half full moon.
