JEANETTE & SIMON

Jeanette and Simon wed in a Church with a small gathering of family and friends, and ended the day with a Korean ceremony under a beautiful sunset. In Korean tradition, the marriage of a man and a woman represents the joining of two families, rather than the joining of two individuals. In the final ritual, after the tea offerings and wisdoms imparted by their parents, the bride and groom are to catch chestnuts and dates into the bride’s skirt thrown by their parents that would predict the number of children they were to have. Chestnuts symbolizing boys and dates for girls. I couldn’t help but laugh after overhearing Jeanette whisper to Simon to not catch too many, cause if legends are true, Jeanette and Simon are set to have 8 boys and 3 girls!

The following day was all about letting loose and celebrating their union while basking in their marital bliss. When we set foot through the door that morning, Jeanette and Simon already had alcohol laid out on the table to accompany their brunch. Less than 15 minutes after the bridal party joined us, they broke out the hard liquor, and thus began the “dranking.” We loved the way they huddled up and cheered over a loud “oOOoOoohhh!!!” before every drink. It got so hyped up that Bern couldn’t help it and permitted himself a shot after being offered so many – It’s what happens when you become the extended part of the bridal party.

The maid of honour and best man, who happen to be married to one another, each made speeches that took us all for an emotional ride; they recalled old stories, poked fun at the couple, but mostly they loved on them. So much. It was apparent that each family were over the moon about their newly acquired family member. How can you blame them, Jeanette and Simon constantly checked up on everyone, even us, making sure we were fed, hydrated and rested; their caring nature was just a tiny hint of the loving people they truly are.

Thank you so much Jeanette and Simon for having us, for being so lovely, and for reminding everyone who sees you together what it’s all about. You will undoubtedly have an amazing adventure of a life together.

Here is a small taste into the wedding we were especially honoured to have captured.
